From the College Counseling Office

All parents should have received an access code and directions to sign into Naviance, the website we use to communicate with parents about college selection and all that goes with it.  If you did not receive a code, email Dr. Gonzalez at dgonzalez@aacps.org.  There is lots of important information on Family Connection like college visits, college fairs, standardized test information, scholarships, regional events, etc.  It is important for parents to sign in regularly to keep current of what we are offering students!

Science Olympiad

Both the high school and middles Science Olympiad club had a great turn out on Thursday.  Thank you for your interest.  Ms. Beazer and Mr. Hamrum will go through the event request list and build the teams.  If your son or daughter is still interested  in joining the science Olympiad team please ask them to speak to Mr. Hamrum for the Middle School and Ms. Beazer for the High School.  The club will meet three days a week but depending on the event your child signs up will only need to commit 1 day.

  • Whenever your child is absent, you must provide a note within 3 days of your child’s return to school.
  • Pre-Approved Notification of Absence Form – If your child will miss 4 or more days, you have this form filled out and approved at least one week prior to the planned absence.  These are handled on a case-by-case basis and need time for approval.  It is not a guarantee that this will be approved.  The form is located at the front desk.

CSP Star Students

Chesapeake Science Point Public Charter School is proud to announce that we are starting up our CSP Star Student Program again!  Every month represents a character trait.  The trait is introduced in the classroom with an explanation of what it means and what it looks like in relationships. At a specific time, each teacher will then email the name of one deserving student who represented the month’s character trait to Mrs. Smith.  These students are recognized publicly to the entire student body. Students will be honored by participating in the Star Student lunch, where they receive a lot of exciting gifts.  Parents/Guardians of these special students are invited to the Star Student Lunch to join in the celebration of good character.

The character trait for September is RESPECT.  The CSP Star Student lunch is scheduled for 9-30-14 at 11:30 a.m. If your child is selected, you will receive an letter inviting you to participate in the great honor!

Saturday Tutoring

At CSP, students are not only challenged but also provided many opportunities to improve themselves academically.   A great example for this is CSP Saturday School which has been a tradition since 2005.

CSP Saturday School is offered for students who look for more challenge, more practice, or a catch up time for whatever is being taught during school days.

In order to successfully continue providing this opportunity, students are expected to follow regular school rules as mentioned in AACPS Student Handbook. Students who are not behaving properly and / or disrupting others may be asked to leave early. Such students may not be eligible for Saturday School in the future as well.

Please make sure  your child has appropriate clothes on (as mentioned in AACPS Student Handbook) and brings necessary school materials on Saturdays.

Saturday class will be from 10:00 am to 12:20 pm.  Students need to be dropped of not earlier than  9:45 am and to be picked up not later than 12:30 pm. Also, Students need to sign up on or before Friday of the scheduled date  so we can determine how many teachers will be needed.

If your child makes the excellent decision of attending Saturday School, please make sure to sign up for the dates.

Spanish I

Hola and welcome to our 2014-2015 school year.  Students in Spanish are acclimating themselves with the sounds and rhythms of Spanish.  Our first project involves the study and reproduction of the flag from a country where Spanish is currently or was in the past the official language.  Students have also gained a grasp of some basic commands in Spanish.  We are looking forward to a wonderful and productive school year.
