Principal's Letter

Dear CSP Parents,

It is a great pleasure to work with such a special school community who works hard and willing to be part of school activities to promote student achievement and make them ready for college and career. CSP has a tradition of pride, excellence, and community involvement.

Each year our students are challenged to excel, not only in academics, but also in many other areas such as athletics and robotics. Behind this success, our school clubs has a crucial role to extend the students engagement with such academic, social and athletic activities. Research states that “after school activities have been found to boost academic achievement, build leadership, and strengthen ties to the community” (Afterschool Alliance). This year, CSP will continue offering several clubs and extracurricular activities to meet diverse need and interest of our students. Please check the below link to see the club lists and descriptions.

2013-14 CSP Club List and Descriptions

Club Selections Form

CSP is a school where the community support and dedication has clear reflections on the student achievement. By means of the sum of continuous dedication from all stakeholders, including our students, parents, teachers, governing board, district officials, and other community members, CSP students keep producing data which makes all of us be proud. I would like to thank every single member of CSP community for their sacrifices in order to build this great school for our children.

ticketsTickets for Homecoming went on sale this past Wednesday and will continue through this coming Wednesday.  Tickets are $10.00 and can be purchased during lunch periods.  There will be no ticket sales at the door.  If your child plans to bring an outside guest, they must turn in the completed quest form at the time of ticket purchase.  More information about ticket sales including the guest form was included in the email sent out on September 17th.

We still parent donations for Homecoming of orange and black decorations including streamers.  If you can contribute any items or a monetary donation so we can purchase items, please contact Ms. O'Brien. (aobrien@mycsp.org)

Market Day

MarketAll students received the Market Day brochure on Friday. Please ask your children to share this with you and consider purchasing items as it is a fundraiser for CSP.  Everyone buys groceries anyway and if you do so through Market Day, the school receives a profit!!!

AACC Courses

AACC

Students were placed in their courses this week and everyone received a payment reminder slip for the cost of their class.  I still have a few students that need to pay for the Digital Imaging course which was due last week.  All other AACC courses require payment to be made by next Thursday.  If you have any questions about these payments, please contact Ms. O'Brien. (aobrien@mycsp.org)

PE Uniform

By now every parent has had ample time to order PE uniforms for their children.  I have just 3-4 students with items on back order that I plan to deliver to them on Monday.  On Tuesday, I will send an email to both Mr. Stedman and Ms. Birmingham letting them know once I have delivered all back ordered items.  If your child is not dressed in their correct CSP PE Uniform it could have a negative impact on their grade as it means they are unprepared for the class.  The PE Uniform required is as follows:

1. Navy Shorts or Sweatpants with CSP logo for both middle and high school students.

2. Gray t-shirt with CSP logo for high school students and white t-shirt with CSP logo for middle school students.

3. Tennis shoes that are laced properly.

If you still need to purchase a PE uniform for your child there are order forms located at the front desk.  Beginning next week, students not dressed properly will also receive an order form from their PE teacher.  Once the PE uniform has been ordered, a student will not be penalized if for some reason, the item they need is not in stock.  The PE uniforms are sold directly from CSP so most likely at this point we have all sizes in stock.

If you need additional information on ordering PE uniforms, please contact Ms. O'Brien. (aobrien@mycsp.org)

Parent Connect

parconnectI am happy to report that we are very close to be up and operating with our Parent Connect System. Some of you that had accounts last year and remembered your passwords may have experienced no problems. Others have not been able to access their accounts or have not been able to set up a new account due to a technicality at the AACPS level.  We have had no access to the system and have been working diligently with the county to get the problem corrected.  I anticipate an email being sent out on Monday or Tuesday letting you know that we are up and working.  Thank you so much for your patience as this problem is being corrected. – Angie O’Brien – Principal’s Secretary

Tiger Soccer Corner

soccer ballWe are just a little into our first ever High School Soccer Program and would love to have as much support at the games as possible.  We have posted all of the games on the CSP calendar located at www.mycsp.org so if you get a chance, come out support CSP.  Both teams are doing a fantastic job!!

School Pictures: Friday, October 11th

school pics~We could use a few parents to help with picture day.  If you are available, please contact Ms. O'Brien. (aobrien@mycsp.org)

All students received the order forms for picture day today.  Please ask your children to share this information with you.  Please do not send money to the front desk.  Your child needs to give the form and payment directly to the Lifetouch representative on the day of pictures and all checks need to be payable to Lifetouch.

Please make sure your child is prepared for picture day if you would like their photo to appear in the yearbook.  The following attire is required:

Middle School Students: Both boys and girls must wear Oxford shirt and burgundy tie.

9th, 10th, & 11th Grade Students: Since we made some changes to the uniform policy this year by adding a new Oxford and new tie color, students will have an option as to which they prefer to wear.  Students who choose to wear the new Oxford shirt must wear the new tie.  Students who choose to wear the original Oxford must wear the burgundy tie.  This goes for both boys and girls.  It takes a little time for orders to come in through OWI so if you need to order Oxford shirts or ties please visit Owiprint.com as soon as possible to ensure your child is prepared for picture day.

Seniors: Since seniors came in August to have their Senior pictures taken, they will not have their pictures taken on this day unless you just want to purchase a package for yourself.  It will not appear in the yearbook.  Seniors that missed the August session will not be able to have their Senior portraits taken on this day as it is a completely different procedure.  If you missed the date and would like more information about how to get Senior portraits taken, please contact Ms. O'Brien. (aobrien@mycsp.org)

Federal Impact Aid Survey

As mentioned in previous newsletters, students will receive the Federal Impact Aid Survey on Monday, September 30th (1 week from now) at which time we ask that you kindly complete the survey, place in the self-addressed envelope, and place in the mail by November 1st.  This information is extremely important so please try your best to complete this request.
