CSP High School Student Wins the University of Maryland Contest

Lukash Onyshkevych, a CSP 10th grade, was recently announced as the Anne Arundel County winner for University of Maryland High School Math competition. The competition had two parts. The Part I of the Competition was open to all students enrolled in high schools in the state of Maryland and the District of Columbia. High scorers in Part I qualified to participate in Part II of the Competition.

This year 2,584 students took Part I of the competition and 279 students qualified to take Part II. In addition to a sound knowledge of high school mathematics (up to, but not including, Calculus), both parts required a fair amount of mathematical insight and ingenuity. The three participants earning the highest combined scores on both parts received $500, $400, and $300, respectively. Among those completing both parts of the competition, the highest scorer for each county and Baltimore City and the District of Columbia was awarded a prize of $100.

An award ceremony for the prize winners will be scheduled during February at University of Maryland. Congratulations to Lukash, his family and CSP math team, Team Infinity.
